Descripción general

Potassium stearate has greasy hand, no sand feeling and fat smell. It can be dissolved in hot water or alcohol, and slowly dissolved in cold water. The aqueous solution is strongly alkaline to litmus and phenolphthalein, but the ethanol solution is only slightly alkaline to phenolphthalein. The solution is alkaline due to hydrolysis.
