Descripción general

Pyruvate Dehydrogenase (PDH) (EC 1.2.4.1) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is the rate-limiting enzyme within the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDHC) that catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate, converting it to hydroxyethyl-TPP. This reaction serves as a crucial link between glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. The detection principle of this kit is based on the ability of PDH to catalyze the dehydrogenation of pyruvate, thereby reducing 2,6-dichloroindophenol (2,6-DCPIP). The change in 2,6-DCPIP can be monitored by measuring the absorbance at 605 nm. The enzyme activity of PDH is determined by calculating the rate of decrease in 2,6-DCPIP.
