ADAM8 belongs to the ADAM family (a class of transmembrane proteins with proteolytic activity), and may undergo autocleavage or be degraded by other proteases. The protein has a calculated MW of 55 kDa. Two main fragments bands are visible with apparent MW of 60 kDa and 40 kDa respectively in reduced SDS-PAGE as a result of its being prone to proteolytic cleavage.
