Rhamnolipid biosurfactants are glycolipids containing L-neneneba rhamnose and ß - hydroxy fatty acids, which are amphiphilic (hydrophilic and hydrophobic). This product is a mixture of rhamnolipid and fatty acids with different tail lengths. They are highly biodegradable, non-toxic, and renewable. Its functions include bioactivity, surfactants, and emulsifiers. Rhamnolipid has good decontamination, foaming and wettability, can form stable microemulsion and can be dissolved under high alkalinity. They are relatively gentle and have skincare properties. The surfactant and lotion properties of rhamnolipid include reducing the surface tension of water to 25-40 mN/m, having 5-380 mg/L CMC, and reducing the interfacial tension of oil and water to<1 dyne/cm. The main reasons why rhamnolipid biosurfactants are superior to synthetic surfactants include: its CMC is 10-100 times lower than that of traditional chemical surfactants (meaning that significantly fewer materials are needed to reduce surface tension/interfacial tension); Easy to biodegradable and with low toxicity (with a high EC50 value); Not affected by temperature, pH, and salinity; Sustainable production.
