Soil phosphatase is a type of enzyme that catalyzes the mineralization of organic phosphorus compounds in soil. Its activity directly influences the decomposition, transformation, and bioavailability of organic phosphorus in soil, making it an important indicator for assessing the direction and intensity of phosphorus biological transformation in soil. Soil phosphatase activity is significantly affected by soil carbon and nitrogen content, available phosphorus levels, and pH. Typically, based on its optimal pH range, soil phosphatase is classified into three types: alkaline, neutral, and acidic phosphatase.
Assay Principle: In an alkaline environment, S-AKP/ALP catalyzes the hydrolysis of disodium phenyl phosphate to produce phenol and disodium hydrogen phosphate. The activity of S-AKP/ALP is calculated by measuring the amount of phenol generated.
