Starch is the primary storage form of carbohydrates in plants, and its content determination holds significant importance for assessing the nutritional value of foods and investigating sugar metabolism within plants. By using 80% ethanol, soluble sugars can be separated from starch in the sample. Further, starch is broken down into glucose via the acid hydrolysis method. The glucose content is then determined using the anthrone colorimetric method, thus allowing for the calculation of starch content.
