Virus preservation solution is mainly used for the preservation of samples intended for tissue and cytopathological analyses. It is applicable not only to coronaviruses, influenza viruses, hand-foot-and-mouth disease viruses, measles and rubella viruses, but also to other types of viruses, mycoplasmas and ureaplasmas. It can maintain the integrity of viral nucleic acids during storage and transportation.
Virus Preservation Solution (Inactivated, No guanidine, Red) contains pH buffers, osmotic pressure maintainers, antibiotics, preservatives, phenol red and other components. After representative collected viruses are preserved in this product, nucleic acid (RNA or DNA) can be extracted while the integrity of cells or viruses is maintained. When nasal and pharyngeal swabs are placed in the virus preservation solution, guanidine substitutes can effectively inhibit nuclease activity, thereby protecting RNA from degradation by RNases and DNA from degradation by DNases. The combined use of multiple antibiotics and preservatives endows the product with strong antibacterial and antifungal properties. Phenol red can be used to monitor and indicate the pH status of the solution. For some specific applications that are sensitive to phenol red (e.g., certain cell culture or molecular biology experiments), it may be necessary to use phenol red-free preservation solution or culture medium. This product is for research use only and is not suitable for clinical diagnosis or other applications.
Operating Procedures (For Reference Only):
1. For different purposes, collect virus samples from the corresponding sites using sampling swabs or other tools.
2. After collecting the virus samples, directly transfer the samples into a sampling tube containing 0.5–1 ml of routine virus preservation solution for storage. Then place the tube under the corresponding temperature conditions for later use. The samples can be stored and transported at 2–8°C for a short period (no more than 48 hours).
Precautions:
1. When handling nasal discharge or sputum specimens, ensure thorough dilution and mixing.
2. The collected specimens must be kept fresh to prevent cell autolysis.
3. This reagent is slightly irritating to the eyes and skin. If it accidentally splashes into the eyes, rinse immediately with clean water.
4. This product is for research use only and is not suitable for clinical diagnosis or other applications.
5. For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
