Descripción general

Vitamin C, also known as L-ascorbic acid, is an essential nutrient for higher primates and a few other organisms. Within living organisms, vitamin C acts as an antioxidant. It is an acidic hexose derivative, specifically an enol-form hexonic acid lactone, which protects the body from threats posed by free radicals. It also functions as a coenzyme and is widely available from various fresh fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C exists in two isomeric forms, L-type and D-type, with only the L-type possessing physiological activity. Both the reduced and oxidized forms are biologically active. The detection principle of this kit is based on the reaction between ammonium molybdate and reduced vitamin C under conditions of strong acidity and in the presence of metaphosphate ions, generating a blue-colored compound. Within a certain concentration range, the absorbance value exhibits a linear relationship with concentration. Absorbance is measured at 760 nm using a spectrophotometer to determine the vitamin C content. This kit is primarily used for the detection of reduced vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in plant tissues and is intended for research purposes only. It is not suitable for clinical diagnosis or other applications.
