Bromo-PEG2-methyl ester is a PEG derivative containing a bromide moiety and a methyl ester. The bromide (Br) is a very good leaving group for nucleophilic substitution reactions. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous media. Methyl ester can be hydrolyzed under strong basic condition.
