Bestim (γ-Glu-Trp) is a dipeptide that exhibits high affinity for rat peritoneal macrophages, thymocytes, and the plasma membranes isolated from these cells, with Kd values of 3.1, 2.1, 18.6, and 16.7 nM respectively. Bestim inhibits adenylate cyclase in the membranes of mouse macrophages and thymocytes. Bestim has immunomodulatory activity.
