Vue d’ensemble

It gradually turns yellow when heated. At 400℃, it absorbs oxygen from the air to become nickel trioxide, and at 600℃, it is reduced back to nickel monoxide. It is soluble in acids and ammonium hydroxide, but insoluble in water and caustic alkali solutions. Experiments have shown that it has potential carcinogenic effects on laboratory animals. It is irritating. It is mainly used in enamel and ceramic coatings, and glass pigments. It also has applications in magnetic materials, metallurgy, and cathode ray tube industries.
Application
NiO can be used in a variety of energy-based and coating applications, such as lithium-ion batteries, solar cells, electrochromic coatings, semiconductor films, and gas-based sensors.
