Vue d’ensemble
Trehalose is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. Due to its unique biological properties distinct from other carbohydrates, trehalose can protect cellular components such as proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids in organisms from damage under harsh conditions including drought, high temperature, dehydration, freezing, high osmotic pressure, and exposure to toxic substances. In this assay kit, the detection is performed using the anthrone colorimetric method. This method offers advantages such as high sensitivity, simplicity, rapidity, and suitability for micro-scale samples. However, the anthrone method also has certain limitations, if the sample contains other soluble sugars, it may interfere with the assay. This kit is therefore recommended for the determination of trehalose in samples that do not contain other soluble sugars.
