Principle

Demodex mites, commonly known as follicle worms, are parasites of hair follicles and sebaceous glands in humans and mammals, including Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis in humans. The body is elongated, worm-like, cream-colored, and the adult body is about 0.15-0.3 mm long with a trapezoidal palate. The body is divided into two parts: the pedipalp (anterior part) and the endopod (posterior part). The peduncle occupies nearly 1/3-1/5 of the carapace, and there are 4 pairs of feet, which are short and stubby. The phallus of the male mite is located between the second pair of legs on the back of the peduncle, and the reproductive pore of the female mite is located between the fourth pair of legs on the ventral surface. The terminal body occupies more than 2/3 of the body length, and the body surface is ringed with transverse stripes. The follicle mite is longer (0.1-0.4 mm), with a bluntly rounded end. The sebaceous mite is slightly shorter (0.1-0.2 mm). The end is pointed and thin.

II. Life history stages:

1. Eggs: Eggs of follicular helminth mites are colorless, mushroom-shaped, and about 80-100 μm long. eggs of sebaceous helminth mites are colorless, ovoid, and 30-60 μm in size.

2, larvae: body small, worm-like, with 3 pairs of legs.

3, Pre-worms and Worms: elongated, rod-shaped, inactive, reproductive organs are immature.
