MEM α is a modified MEM medium, widely applied in mammalian cell culture and screening for DHFR‑negative transfected cells. MEM α is suitable for a variety of suspension and adherent mammalian cells, including keratinocytes, primary rat astrocytes and human melanoma cells.
Components of this medium: 1.0 g/L glucose, 0.292 g/L L‑glutamine, phenol red, nucleosides, etc.
Instructions for Use
Use according to specific experimental requirements. MEM α contains no proteins, lipids or growth factors. Therefore, supplements are required for MEM α, typically 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS). MEM α adopts a sodium bicarbonate buffering system (2.2 g/L), hence a 5‑10% CO₂ atmosphere is required to maintain physiological pH.
