Descripción general

Mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I, also known as NADH-CoQ reductase or NADH dehydrogenase, is widely present in the mitochondria of animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is the largest protein complex in the inner mitochondrial membrane. This enzyme catalyzes the transfer of a pair of electrons from NADH to CoQ, while simultaneously reducing O₂ to generate O₂•⁻ (superoxide anion). It represents the primary step in the mitochondrial respiratory electron transport chain responsible for O₂•⁻ production. The activity level of this enzyme not only reflects the status of the respiratory electron transport chain but also indicates the state of reactive oxygen species generation. The detection principle of this kit is based on the ability of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I to catalyze the dehydrogenation of NADH, generating NAD⁺. By measuring the change in absorbance of NADH at 340 nm, the activity of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I in the sample can be calculated.
