Sulfhydryl groups in living organisms mainly consist of non-protein sulfhydryl groups and protein sulfhydryl groups. Sulfhydryl compounds play a crucial detoxification role in the body and hold significant physiological importance for the self-regulation of the organism.
Assay Principle: Sulfhydryl groups react with 5,5'-Dithio-bis-(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB) to generate a yellow-colored compound, which exhibits a maximum absorption peak at 412 nm.
