1-Methylcyclopropen (1-MCP) ist ein aktives Gas. Es ist ein Antagonist von Ethylen. Es kann sich mit dem Ethylenrezeptor in Obst und Gemüse verbinden, die Wirkung von Ethylen auf Obst und Gemüse verhindern und eine Reihe von physiologischen Reaktionen wie Reifung und Verfall von Obst und Gemüse hemmen. Da der Transport, die Aufbewahrung und die Anwendung von Gas umständlich sind, ist es notwendig, es mit α-Cyclodextrin (α-CD) zu verkapseln, um Mikrokapseln mit verzögerter Freisetzung herzustellen. Diese Art von Mikrokapseln ist der 1-Methylcyclodextrin/α-Cyclodextrin-Einschlusskomplex (1-MCP/α-CD).
