Overview
2-Methyl-8-quinolinol is a methyl substituted quinolinol derivative that shows fungicidal property.It can also undergo complexation with transition metal complexes. 2-Methyl-8-quinolinol (HqMe) may be used as a ligand for preparing bis (2-methyl-8-quinolinolato) aluminum(III)-μ-oxo-bis (2-methyl-8-quinolinolato ) aluminum (III). It may also be used in the preparation of a scandium 2-methyl-8-quinolinolate complex [Sc(qMe)4(H)].
This compound belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 8-hydroxyquinolines. These are compounds containing a quinoline moiety, which carries a hydroxy group at the 8-position. Quinoline consists of a benzene ring fused to a pyrimidine ring to form benzo[b]azabenzene.
