Catalase (CAT, EC 1.11.1.6) is a key antioxidant enzyme in living organisms that efficiently catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) into harmless water and oxygen, thereby protecting cells from oxidative damage caused by H₂O₂. CAT activity is an important indicator of the antioxidant capacity of an organism and is closely associated with cellular health, aging, and various pathological processes. The assay principle of this kit is as follows: CAT catalyzes the decomposition of H₂O₂ into water and oxygen. The residual H₂O₂ remaining in the reaction system reacts with a specific enzyme and a fluorescent probe to generate a fluorescent product. The fluorescence intensity of this product at an excitation wavelength of 535 nm and an emission wavelength of 587 nm is directly proportional to the concentration of residual H₂O₂. By detecting this fluorescence signal, CAT activity can be calculated.
