Übersicht

Chromium chloride is used in the condensation of aldehydes with trisubstituted chloroalkenes as well as in the synthesis of a highly active precatalyst for ethylene oligimerization. Further uses of chromium chloride include the conversion of terminal olefins into trans-iodocyclopropanes (in conjunction with iodoform and tetraethyl ethylenediamine) with excellent results; generating bis(indenyl)chromium dimers and other various related products.
Mediates the condensation of the aldehydes with trisubstituted chloroalkenes.Used in the synthesis of a highly active precatalyst for ethylene oligimerization. Used to make bis(indenyl)chromium dimer and related products. Used with iodoform and tetraethyl ethylenediamine to convert terminal olefins into trans-iodocyclopropanes in excellent yields. The vapor-phase co-reductions with other metal halides by hydrogen results in finely divided intermetallics with applications as structural materials or compounds with useful thermoelectric, magnetic, and oxidation-resistance properties.
