Overview
Ethanol is commonly found in foods, fruits, alcoholic beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other products. This kit utilizes alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) to convert ethanol to acetaldehyde with concomitant generation of NADH. To overcome the inherent reverse reaction tendency of this enzyme, a specific reagent is additionally added to drive the reaction forward, ensuring complete oxidation of ethanol. Ethanol content can be quantitatively determined by measuring the increase in NADH at 340 nm.
