Ethylene-induced female flower formation experiment
Ethylene-induced female flower formation experiment
Ethylene alters membrane permeability and cell compartmentalization, and induces the synthesis, release or activation of many enzymes (especially degradative enzymes), which is one of the main reasons why ethylene promotes maturation and abscission. The synthesis of new RNAs and proteins is often observed during the action of ethylene, suggesting that ethylene acts at the level of gene regulation.

Pharmaceuticals
Aqueous solution of vinblastine, take 0.5 ml and 0.25 ml of the original solution of "vinblastine" or "a test spirit" (containing 40% of the active ingredient) respectively, each volume to 1,000 ml, that is, 200 pp M and 100 pp M of aqueous solution.
Experimental steps
1. Cultivate several pots of cucumber seedlings in pots, when they grow to the emergence of two true leaves a little before the selection of seedlings with uniform growth, leaving three plants in each pot.
2. In the afternoon on a sunny day at about four o'clock, the three seedlings in each pot for the following treatment: in the three seedlings on the growth point with a dropper, respectively, three drops of 100 pp M, 200 pp M ethylene glycol solution and distilled water (treatment, pay attention to make the droplets retained in the growth point, so that it is slowly absorbed); or first of all, 100 pp M, 200 pp M ethylene glycol solution and distilled water were 5-10 drops in three skimmed cotton pads. -Or put 5 drops each of 100pp M, 200pp M vinblastine solution and distilled water on three small balls of cotton wool, then place the cotton wool on the growth point of the seedlings, and remove the cotton balls at about 10:00 a.m. the next day, which can prevent the droplets from flowing out.
3. Label the treated seedlings. Observe and record the date of flowering, flowering node, sex and number of flowers for each treatment at any time. Generally by the time the main cucumber vine grows to 10 nodes, a clear result can be obtained and the experiment can be finished, if you want to calculate the yield, you need to wait until the whole reproductive period is finished.
