Experiments on the effect of light on plant growth
Experiments on the effect of light on plant growth
This experiment focuses on observing the effects of light and dark treatments at different times on the morphogenesis of plants, so as to understand that light is one of the necessary conditions for plant growth.
Operation method
Experiments on the effect of light on plant growth
Principle
The role of light on plant growth is multifaceted. Light not only affects photosynthesis, but also has a direct effect on plant growth. Light inhibits cell elongation and promotes cell differentiation, which plays a paradigm role in plant morphology.
Materials and Instruments
Peas Move I. Materials, instrumentation and equipment Effects of different light and dark treatments on plant growth Note: Average values were taken for each treatment to record in the table. For more product details, please visit Aladdin Scientific website.
Incubator Dark Room Fine Sand Constant Temperature Incubator
1. Materials: peas or other plant seeds
2. Instruments and equipment: culture tank, dark room, fine sand, constant temperature incubator
Second, the experimental steps
1. Put the experimental seeds into a large petri dish after soaking, and place it in the incubator to cultivate germination at 25~28℃ for 3d.
2. Take four culture jars (respectively, No. 1, 2, 3, 4) filled with fine sand, the germination of the same seeds sown into the sand, watering (to wet for appropriate), respectively, for the following treatments:
No. 1, the plants were kept in the dark room for the whole period of the experiment.
No. 2, the same conditions as above, moved to the light for 20 min per day, the
No. 3, same conditions as above, moved to light for 1h per day, the
No. 4, placed under natural light for the whole experimental period.
Care was taken to maintain proper temperature and soil moisture during the experimental period, and after 2 to 3 weeks (depending on the temperature during the experimental period), the height of the plants, internode length, and leaf unfolding were observed for each treatment.
III. Measurement and analysis of results
Record the experimental results according to the following table, compare the dark treatment with different light time treatment, plant growth, morphology, number of internodes, leaf unfolding, leaf color performance what is the difference, and briefly describe the reasons.
