Malondialdehyde (MDA) is one of the end products of lipid peroxidation in membranes of tissues or organs under aging or stress conditions. Its content is closely related to the degree of aging and stress‑induced damage in organisms. Soil malondialdehyde (S‑MDA) is mainly derived from metabolites produced by plants under stress conditions and serves as an important indicator for assessing the degree of soil ecological stress. This kit employs the thiobarbituric acid (TBA) colorimetric method for the determination of S‑MDA content. Under high‑temperature and acidic conditions, MDA condenses with TBA to form a red product, which exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 532 nm. To eliminate interference from non‑specific substances such as soluble sugars, the background absorbance at 600 nm is also measured, and the S‑MDA content in the sample is calculated using ΔOD = OD₅₃₂ – OD₆₀₀. Quantitative determination is achieved by comparison with a standard curve.
