Overview

This kit is suitable for the determination of catalase (CAT) activity in samples such as plant tissues, serum, and plasma. The kit provides a simple, sensitive, and rapid assay. The principle is as follows: CAT catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) to water and oxygen. The residual H₂O₂ in the reaction system reacts with a novel chromogenic probe to form a colored product, which exhibits a maximum absorbance peak at 510 nm. By measuring the absorbance at 510 nm, the CAT activity in the sample can be calculated based on the decrease in H₂O₂. This kit shifts the detection wavelength from the ultraviolet region (240 nm, the characteristic absorbance peak of H₂O₂) to the visible region (510 nm), thereby eliminating the need for quartz cuvettes or UV-compatible microplates and making the operation more convenient.
