Overview

Lactate is an important intermediate metabolite in biological metabolism and is closely associated with carbohydrate metabolism, lipid metabolism, protein metabolism, and intracellular energy metabolism. Lactate content is a crucial indicator for evaluating glycogen metabolism and aerobic metabolism. The assay principle of this kit is as follows: lactate is converted to pyruvate by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), with concomitant reduction of NAD⁺ to NADH and H⁺. The H⁺ is transferred via phenazine methosulfate (PMS) to reduce INT, forming a red formazan product that exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 530 nm. By measuring the rate of change in absorbance at 530 nm, the lactate content in the sample can be quantitatively calculated.
