MEM/F‑12 is a widely used basal medium, prepared as a 1:1 mixture of DMEM and Ham's F‑12. It supports the growth of a variety of mammalian cells and is suitable for culturing cell lines including MDCK, glial cells, fibroblasts, human endothelial cells, rat fibroblasts, and others. This product is enriched with multiple nutrients required for cell culture, including amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts, etc.; however, it contains no proteins, lipids, or any growth factors. Therefore, supplementation with additional nutrients is required during use, typically with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS). The buffering system employs sodium bicarbonate (2.438 g/L), and the culture environment must maintain 5–10% CO₂ to sustain physiological pH. This product contains L‑glutamine (730 mg/L), glucose (6302 mg/L), sodium pyruvate (110 mg/L), and phenol red (16.2 mg/L). It does not contain HEPES. Precautions 1. This product has been sterilized by filtration. Aseptic techniques must be observed throughout handling to prevent contamination. 2. Avoid repeated freeze‑thaw cycles. It is recommended to aliquot and store at 2–8°C protected from light. 3. This product is intended for research or further study purposes only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or therapeutic use.
