Overview
This kit employs the GOD‑POD (glucose oxidase‑peroxidase) coupled colorimetric method for the determination of glycogen content. Glycogen is hydrolyzed to glucose by amyloglucosidase, and the resulting glucose reacts with a chromogenic agent under GOD‑POD catalysis to form a pink‑colored product with a maximum absorption peak at 510 nm. The glycogen content is quantitatively calculated by correcting the background using a difference method (i.e., subtracting the free glucose originally present in the sample from the total glucose measured after hydrolysis). Glycogen is a major energy storage substance in the liver and muscles, and its metabolic abnormalities are closely associated with various diseases.
