Overview
This kit is used for the determination of xylanase activity. Soil hemicellulase degrades xylan into reducing sugars under acidic conditions. The reducing sugars react with DNS reagent in a boiling water bath to develop color, and the absorbance is measured at 540 nm. The rate of increase in absorbance is proportional to the amount of reducing sugars generated, from which the enzyme activity is calculated.
