Overview
Soil peroxidase (S‑POD) is primarily derived from soil microorganisms. It catalyzes the oxidation of soil organic matter to generate peroxides and plays an important role in the formation of humus. In the presence of hydrogen peroxide, this enzyme catalyzes the oxidation of the substrate L‑DOPA to form red quinone products. Based on relevant literature, the characteristic absorption peak of this colored product at 475 nm is selected for measurement, and the soil peroxidase activity is calculated from the change in absorbance.
