Overview

Triosephosphate isomerase (EC 5.3.1.1, TPI/TIM) is a key enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, catalyzing the reversible isomerization between dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehyde 3‑phosphate, thereby maintaining the metabolic balance between these two metabolites. TPI connects glycolysis, the pentose phosphate pathway, and lipid metabolism, and is widely present in virtually all organisms as a stable homodimer. This kit provides a rapid, simple, and sensitive detection method. TPI catalyzes the conversion of dihydroxyacetone phosphate to glyceraldehyde 3‑phosphate, and the product reacts with a coupled enzyme mixture and a specific chromogenic probe to generate a colored substance with maximum absorbance at 450 nm. By measuring the rate of increase in absorbance at 450 nm, the TPI activity can be calculated.
