Overview

Soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene and ethyl acetate, slightly soluble in water. Toxic. It's stimulating. The solvent. Used as an inhibitor of vinyl plastic monomer; Uv inhibitor; Dye intermediates and the antioxidant BHA (3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole) used in the synthesis of edible oils and cosmetics. Its biggest advantage is that the monomer after adding MEHQ and other monomers do not have to be removed when copolymerized, can be ternary direct copolymerization, but also can be used as antioxidant, antioxidant and so on.

Application:

4-methoxyphenol can be used for the synthesis of butylated hydroxyanisole by methyl-tert-butyl ether on a non-zeolite solid acid catalyst. Compared with Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction, this method is more environmentally friendly. Depending on the reaction conditions, 4-MP can also react with aqueous nitrite and form 2-nitro-4-methoxyphenol and benzoquinone in different proportions. 4-Mp can be used as a synthetic block for the design of β-cyclodextrin 4-methoxyphenol conjugates, which can serve as potential ligands for drug complexation
