Insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is a hormone with a molecular weight of 7.6kd, and its molecular structure is similar to that of insulin.The main mechanism of action of IGF-1 is to induce signaling within the cell by binding to its specific receptor (IGF1R).IGF-1 is one of the most potent activators of the Akt signaling pathway, which, upon activation, stimulates cell growth and proliferation, and inhibits apoptosis.IGF-1 LR3 adds 13 amino acids to the N-terminus of the intact IGF-1 molecule to form 83 amino acid long-chain IGF-1 and replaces the 3rd amino acid of IGF-1 molecule, glutamic acid (E), with arginine (R), so called R3.IGF-1 LR3 has higher stability and bioactivity than IGF-1 without modification.
