Overview

Triglycerides (TG) are fat molecules composed of long-chain fatty acids and glycerol. They are not only major constituents of cell membranes but also important respiratory substrates. This kit employs isopropanol to extract TG from samples, which are then hydrolyzed by lipoprotein lipase to generate glycerol and free fatty acids (FFA). Glycerol, under the catalysis of glycerol kinase and glycerol phosphate oxidase, reacts with adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to produce H₂O₂. Subsequently, in the presence of peroxidase (POD), H₂O₂ oxidizes 4-aminoantipyrine coupled with phenol to form a colored compound, which exhibits a characteristic absorbance peak at 505 nm. By measuring the absorbance at 505 nm, the TG content in the sample can be quantitatively calculated.
