This preservation solution is a liquid, non-toxic reagent for preserving blood RNA. It protects RNA integrity by forming a complex with RNA and simultaneously inhibits RNase activity. This reagent immediately stabilizes RNA in fresh blood. Human blood samples containing this reagent can be stored at 2-8℃ for 5 days or at -20℃ for at least 3 months. Mammalian blood samples containing this reagent can be stored at 15-25℃ for 2 days, at 2-8℃ for 7 days, or at -20℃ for at least 6 months, with no significant RNA degradation observed. For subsequent use, total RNA can be rapidly extracted from blood preserved in this blood sample RNA preservation solution using a total blood RNA extraction kit combined with an optimized protocol.

a) Before use, ensure the Blood Sample RNA Preservation Solution is stored at room temperature. Take fresh anticoagulated whole blood and add it to the Blood Sample RNA Preservation Solution at a ratio of 1:3. For example: Add 300 μl of fresh anticoagulated whole blood from a healthy human to 900 μl of Blood Sample RNA Preservation Solution; Or add 100 μl of fresh anticoagulated whole blood from a mammal to 300 μl of Blood Sample RNA Preservation Solution.
b) Immediately cap the tube and invert it up and down 8-10 times to mix thoroughly. Human blood samples containing the Blood Sample RNA Preservation Solution can be stored at 2-8℃ for 5 days or at -20℃ for at least 3 months; Mammalian blood samples containing the Blood RNA Preservation Solution can be stored at 15-25℃ for 2 days, at 2-8℃ for 7 days, or at -20℃ for at least 6 months.
Precautions:
a) When preserving blood samples, immediately add 3 volumes of Blood Sample RNA Preservation Solution to fresh anticoagulated whole blood. If processing a larger volume of blood samples, select appropriately sized consumables for the operation.
b) Blood samples containing Blood Sample RNA Preservation Solution must be left at room temperature for at least 2 hours to ensure the blood samples are fully dissolved in the preservation solution. This step can be performed either before or after the samples are stored at low temperatures.
