Overview
3-Indoleglyoxylic acid is a chemical used for synthesizing many things, particularly analogs of pyhtoalexins as anticancer agents. It is also a reactant to synthesize fenbufen and ethacrynic acid derivatives. It is also used to synthesize tertiary amides and fuconojirimycin derivatives as inhibitors of α-Fucosidases. Perhaps the most useful is the synthesis of oxazinin-3, oxazinin-2, and oxazinin-1 via intramolecular addition and cyclization reactions. This compound belongs to the class of organic compounds known as indole-3-acetic acid derivatives. These are compounds containing an acetic acid (or a derivative) linked to the C3 carbon atom of an indole.
