Overview

Hydroxy magnetic beads are specially designed magnetic solid-phase carriers for nucleic acid extraction and purification. The surface silanol groups enable specific binding with nucleic acids under high-salt and low-pH conditions through hydrophobic, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions, while excluding other impurities. This allows rapid nucleic acid capture and extraction from biological samples.

With high specific surface area and magnetic susceptibility, these beads facilitate efficient nucleic acid separation. They are particularly suitable for automated liquid-phase nucleic acid extraction platforms and are widely used in biological and medical fields.

Protocol

  1. Prepare lysed or dissolved sample solution.

  2. Add appropriate volume of magnetic beads and incubate.

  3. Separate bead-bound nucleic acids from unbound materials using magnetic separation.

  4. Wash beads with wash buffer to remove impurities; separate using magnets.

  5. Elute nucleic acids with elution buffer; separate beads from product magnetically.

Note: Extraction steps and buffer systems require optimization for specific sample types and targets (virus/bacteria/gDNA/RNA, etc.). 

Precautions

  1. Storage:

    • 1 year at room temperature; 2 years at 2-8°C.

    • Slight color variations under normal storage conditions do not affect performance.

  2. Handling:

    • Avoid freezing, drying, or centrifugation (may cause bead aggregation and resuspension issues).

  3. Usage:

    • Vortex thoroughly before use to ensure uniform suspension.
