Overview
McCoy's 5A medium was designed by Thomas McCoy and colleagues in 1959, originally specifically for the culture of Novikoff hepatoma cells. It was developed from Basal Medium 5A and later further modified by Iwakata and Grace, leading to the widely used McCoy's 5A (modified) medium currently available.
McCoy's 5A medium containing HEPES is a liquid medium specifically designed for cell culture. It incorporates a HEPES buffering system to maintain a stable pH, making it suitable for a wide variety of cell types, particularly those sensitive to pH fluctuations.
