Overview

N-acetylmuramic acid is a component of the bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan and is essential for maintaining cell shape and integrity. N-acetylmuramic acid inhibits spore germination by inhibiting shell associated amino-hexanosidase and core enzyme. N-acetylmuramic acid is necessary for Bacteroides forsythe to grow and maintain its cell morphology
Component of peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls. Peptidoglycan is a mesh-like polymer, made of a glycan backbone containing alternating subunits of Nâ acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) and Nâ acetylmuramic acid (MurNAc). An enzyme substrate that is used to characterize and differentiate MurNAc and GlcNAc kinases.
