Overview
This kit is suitable for the ultraviolet colorimetric determination of nitrate ions (NO₃⁻) in water. The principle is based on the fact that both NO₃⁻ and NO₂⁻ exhibit characteristic absorption peaks in the ultraviolet region of 210–220 nm, and their concentrations are linearly proportional to the absorbance, thereby allowing the direct quantification of NO₃⁻ content. Interference from NO₂⁻ in the sample can be eliminated by the addition of sulfamic acid to decompose it; interference from other organic substances is corrected by measuring the absorbance at 275 nm and multiplying by a correction factor.
