This product primarily consists of EDTA-2K (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid Dipotassium Salt), with the chemical formula C₁₀H₁₄K₂N₂O₈·2H₂O, a molecular weight of 404.47, and CAS No. 25102-12-9. As an ion-chelating anticoagulant, its core mechanism of action involves binding with calcium ions in the blood to form stable chelate complexes, thereby blocking the blood coagulation process. This product has a wide range of applications and can serve as a complexing agent, metal masking agent (for complexing calcium, magnesium, and other metal ions), and is also suitable for preparing anticoagulants, anticoagulant tubes, and vacuum anticoagulant tubes for use with whole blood analyzers. In laboratory applications, this product is suitable for complete blood cell analysis (typical dosage: 1.5 mg to 2.2 mg can anticoagulate 1 mL of blood), particularly for platelet count experiments. However, as it affects platelet aggregation function and coagulation factor test results, it is not suitable for coagulation profile tests or platelet function-related examinations.
This reagent is not sterilized and is supplied as a 10× concentrate. It must be diluted with distilled water or deionized water according to experimental requirements prior to use. This product is intended for research use only and is prohibited for clinical diagnosis or other medical purposes.
Operating Procedure (for reference only)
Please prepare the reagent and perform experimental operations according to the specific experimental protocol and standard operating procedures.
For routine use, dilute this product 10-fold. Recommended dosage: Take 0.2 mL of the EDTA-2K anticoagulant (10×), which can effectively anticoagulate 1.8 mL of blood. Ensure thorough mixing before use.
Precautions
Strictly adhere to aseptic techniques during experiments to avoid reagent contamination, which may affect experimental results.
To ensure the safety and health of laboratory personnel, a lab coat must be worn, and disposable gloves must be used when handling this product. Avoid direct contact of the reagent with skin, mucous membranes, or broken areas. In case of accidental contact, immediately rinse the affected area with plenty of clean water.
