Product Introduction
A section is sandwiched between a glass slide and a coverslip, with a mounting medium used to seal the gap. This process, known as mounting, serves two purposes: on the one hand, it preserves the stained section; on the other hand, the mounting medium with an appropriate refractive index enables clear visualization of the tissue cells in the specimen.
Gum Arabic Glycerol Mounting Medium is mainly composed of gum arabic, glycerol, and distilled water, belonging to the category of water-soluble mounting media. It is suitable for specimens that do not require complete dehydration or would undergo shrinkage and deformation after dehydration (such as fungi, algae, etc.), and is particularly ideal for mounting fungi and insects. However, it has a drawback: after mounting, it tends to lose water, leading to shrinkage of the mounting medium and formation of a large number of crystals. For long-term preservation, the edges of the coverslip need to be sealed with materials like Canada balsam or neutral balsam. Based on the dosage of 50-100 μl of mounting medium per sample, 5 ml of this product can be used for mounting at least 50 samples. This reagent is for research use only and not intended for clinical diagnosis or any other purposes.
Materials to Be Prepared by the User
1. Glass slides
2. Coverslips
3. Microscope
Operating Procedures (For Reference Only)
1. Tissue Sections
① After staining, aspirate the staining solution.
② Place 1 drop of Gum Arabic Glycerol Mounting Medium onto the tissue section, then cover it with a coverslip to ensure the section fully contacts the mounting medium, minimizing the formation of air bubbles.
③ Observe the tissue section under a microscope.
2. Other Samples (e.g., Pathogenic Fungi, Insects, etc.)
Follow the operating procedures for tissue sections.
Precautions
1. Mounted samples should be stored away from light.
2. For your safety and health, wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
3. Please use the reagent as soon as possible after opening to avoid affecting subsequent experimental results.
