Overview

Ready-to-Use Bacterial Freezing Medium is suitable for cryopreservation of various common bacteria.Generally, bacterial strains can be stored for 12 months at -20 °C, and for long‑term storage at -70 °C or -80 °C.

This product is a high‑concentration formulation and has been autoclaved.Simply resuspend the bacterial culture to be preserved with this Bacterial Freezing Medium. This product is for research use only and not for clinical diagnosis or other applications.

Materials Required

Sterile cryovials or centrifuge tubes, pipette tips

Protocol (For Reference Only)

  1. Culture the bacteria in liquid medium such as LB to the logarithmic growth phase.
  2. Take a sterile cryovial or centrifuge tube, mix the bacterial culture and Ready-to-Use Bacterial Preservation Medium at a ratio of 1:1 to 3:1, and mix thoroughly.
  3. Store the bacteria at -20 °C or -80 °C.
  4. For recovery of frozen bacteria, scrape solid ice crystals from the surface of the frozen stock using a sterile loop, sterile wooden stick (toothpick), or pipette, and streak onto a suitable agar plate (e.g., LB agar plate).Handle carefully and avoid thawing the frozen stock.

Precautions

  1. Bacterial Freezing Medium must be used in a laminar flow hood to avoid microbial contamination.
  2. The bacteria must be thoroughly mixed with Bacterial Freezing Medium; otherwise, it cannot protect the bacteria during cryopreservation.
  3. Fresh bacteria in logarithmic phase give the best freezing results, but non‑logarithmic or non‑freshly cultured bacteria can also be preserved with this medium.
  4. Do not inoculate after directly thawing the frozen stock.
  5. For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
  6. Please use the reagent promptly after opening to avoid affecting experimental performance.
