Overview
DMAO, namely N,N-dimethylaniline N-oxide, is a green fluorescent nucleic acid dye that is applicable to both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It can stain both viable and dead bacteria. With membrane permeability, this dye is able to penetrate cell membranes and preferentially bind to double-stranded DNA. DMAO is highly stable and not susceptible to degradation during routine handling and storage at room temperature.
