MEM (Minimum Essential Medium) is a commonly used cell culture medium. It can be used for culturing various suspension and adherent mammalian cells, including HeLa, BHK‑21, 293, HEP‑2, HT‑1080, MCF‑7, fibroblasts, and primary rat astrocytes. This product is prepared with Earle's balanced salt solution. It contains no proteins, lipids, or growth factors, therefore requiring supplementation with nutrients, typically with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS). This product utilizes a sodium bicarbonate buffering system (2.2 g/L) and thus requires a 5–10% CO₂ atmosphere to maintain physiological pH. Product Composition: D‑glucose (1000 mg/L), NaHCO₃ (2200 mg/L). It does not contain sodium pyruvate, HEPES, phenol red, or L‑glutamine. Precautions 1. This product has been sterilized by filtration. Aseptic techniques must be observed during handling to prevent contamination. 2. To maintain optimal performance, avoid freeze‑thaw cycles. 3. This product is intended for research or further study purposes only; it is not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
