Tetramethylammonium sulfate is a simple ionic compound of a quaternary amine and sulfate that could be a useful surfactant or source of sulfate anions. Quaternary amine surfactants are believed to permeate cell membranes which can lead to changes in the membranes characteristics culminating in cell death.
