Overview
Sucrose is the primary product of plant photosynthesis and the main form for sugar transport and storage. Therefore, determining sucrose content is of great significance for understanding plant sugar metabolism. Additionally, sucrose content serves as a crucial quality control indicator for products such as beverages, honey, preserved fruits, candies, and dairy products.
This kit can detect sucrose content in plant samples. The principle involves first heating the sample with alkali to destroy reducing sugars. Subsequently, under acidic conditions, sucrose is hydrolyzed to produce glucose and fructose. The fructose then reacts with resorcinol to form a colored product, which exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 480 nm.
