Description:

Steroidal alkaloids with a structure containing a spirostane skeleton. Spirostanes are 16b,22:22,26-diepoxycholestanes, or 22,26-epoxyfurostans. The sixth ring so formed is known as ring F. Chemically, the spiro centre at C-22 has the character of an internal acetal derived from a 16b, 26-dihydroxycholestan-22-one.
