Overview

White or slightly yellow powder. Insoluble in water, ethanol and ether; soluble in alkaline solutions and kerosene. Decomposed into stearic acid and corresponding aluminum salts upon contact with strong acids.
Applications

Used as a heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a rust inhibitor for metals, a water repellent for building materials, an emulsifier for cosmetics, a gloss improver and thickener for coatings and inks, a lubricant for plastic products, and a defoamer for petroleum drilling, etc.
