Overview

Creatinine (Cr) is the end product of muscle metabolism in humans and animals. Approximately 1 mg of creatinine is produced per 20 g of muscle metabolized and is excreted from the body via glomerular filtration. The sources of creatinine are classified into two categories: exogenous creatinine, derived from the metabolism of meat in the diet, and endogenous creatinine, originating from the metabolism of the body's own muscle tissues. The detection principle of this kit is based on the Jaffe reaction: under alkaline conditions, creatinine reacts with picrate to form an orange-red creatinine–picrate complex, the production of which is proportional to the creatinine content. The absorbance is measured at 510 nm using a microplate reader, enabling the determination of creatinine levels in biological samples such as plasma, serum, and urine from humans or animals. This kit is intended for research use only and is not suitable for clinical diagnosis or other applications.
